Sustainable Living Community
A pioneering net-zero energy residential development featuring solar integration, communal green spaces, and climate-resilient design.
Sustainable Living Community
Sustainable Living Community is SOLAVELLE GROUP’s pioneering eco-residential development in Portland, USA—designed from the ground up to deliver climate-resilient housing with a focus on community connection, renewable energy, and long-term sustainability.
Project Overview
Located in Portland’s progressive Eastside district, the Sustainable Living Community comprises 62 architect-designed residences, all constructed to meet or exceed net-zero energy standards. The development includes:
- 20 one-bedroom homes (55–70m²)
- 30 two-bedroom homes (75–100m²)
- 12 three-bedroom townhouses (110–145m²)
- 500m² of co-working and communal activity space
- 1,000m² of community gardens, pollinator parks, and play areas
Purpose-Driven Development
This project reflects SOLAVELLE GROUP's mission to empower sustainable urban growth through energy-conscious and socially inclusive design. Portland’s eco-conscious demographic and rising demand for green housing informed our strategy—prioritizing walkability, shared spaces, and climate resilience.
By embedding renewable energy and smart water infrastructure, the development reduces environmental impact while meeting the expectations of modern homebuyers seeking ethical investment and meaningful community engagement.
Design & Architecture
EcoForm Designs crafted each residence to reflect Portland’s architectural vernacular while embracing 21st-century sustainability principles. The design emphasizes harmony with nature, efficient layouts, and long-term material performance.
Key design elements include:
- Passive solar orientation and natural cross-ventilation
- Green roofs on all townhomes to improve insulation and biodiversity
- Recycled steel and reclaimed timber used throughout
- Modular construction techniques reducing on-site waste by 40%
- Landscaped stormwater channels enhancing site permeability
"Designing for net-zero isn’t just about energy—it's about creating spaces where people and the planet thrive together."— Marissa Greene, Lead Architect, EcoForm Designs
